Social Networks

Social networks are a great way of getting traffic to your site by making it easy to find people that will be interested in your website subject.
Try typing “photos editing” into a Facebook search and see how many people you can get access to.
Also, the social networks give your website a human face as they let the visitors to your site see who is behind it and this can help build trust.
Two of the biggest networks at the moment are Twitter and Facebook.
Below is some information on both networks.

Facebook

Facebook is operated and privately owned. Users can add friends and send them messages and update their personal profiles to notify their friends about themselves.
Users can join networks organized by cities, schools, workplaces and religons.
Facebook was created by Mark Zuckerberg and some fellow college roommates.
Today Facebook has over 500 million active users and over 20 million hits per day.

Twitter

Twitter is a free service that allows its users to send and read messages known as tweets.
Twitter posts are text based and can be up to 140 characters long, these posts get displayed on the authors profile page.
When you open an account you can subscribe to other profiles, these people become your followers and only your followers can read your tweets.
Created in 2006 by Jack Dorsey, Twitter has about 5 million users and 14 million hits per day.
